Barbara Bernard to keynote a public celebration to recognize Glenmeadow's 125th anniversary
Free Event to Offer Retirement Options
Longmeadow, MA - Glenmeadow will celebrate 125 years of serving older adults in Greater Springfield with a public celebration on September 26, 2009, from 12:30 - 4:00 pm at it's 24 Tabor Crossing location in Longmeadow.
Attendees will enjoy an afternoon of free events, entertainment, and exhibits, beginning with the keynote speaker at 1:00 pm. Barbara Bernard, an 82-year old media professional whose career has spanned six decades, will speak on how she has redefined retirement. Breakout sessions presented at 2:00 pm and then repeated at 3:00 pm will include, "Tai Chi for Arthritis," "Resources for Staying in Your Home," "Planned Giving and Preserving Value," and "Staging and Selling Your Home." Local entertainer Jimmy Mazz will be featured from 2:30 - 5:00 pm.
Area non-profit organizations will have exhibits including the Springfield Museums, the Longmeadow Council on Aging, City Stage and Symphony Hall, Elderhostel, the East Longmeadow Council on Aging, Milton Bradley, the Basketball Hall of Fame, the Jewish Community Center, Greater Springfield Senior Services, and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.

History of Service to the Community
In 1884, Glenmeadow was the first organization in Western Massachusetts to provide a safe place for seniors to live out their retirement years with dignity. Today, the organization continues to redefine retirement living by providing whatever people need to live a worry-free retirement. Glenmeadow provides the services people need in the place they call home - whether at its Longmeadow campus, a house in Agawam, or a nursing home in Springfield. The organization offers wellness programs, personal care and support, and home and property services throughout Greater Springfield.
Glenmeadow is an accredited not-for-profit continuing care retirement community that provides independent and assisted living at its campus at 24 Tabor Crossing in Longmeadow and expanded services throughout Greater Springfield through Glenmeadow at Home. It is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC), offering assurance to the public that there has been an external third-party review of quality and financial stability. Glenmeadow also serves small and medium-sized non-profits across the country with consulting services through its affiliate, Glenmeadow Consulting, LLC.
