Laura Lavoie
Director of Resident Programs
Laura worked for Cigna Insurance Company and in retail for years before joining Glenmeadow in 1997. She calls it "the most rewarding decision I ever made. It was one of those light-bulb moments: After I was here a few months, I thought, 'Oh! This is what I was supposed to be doing all along!'"
As a certified activities director, Laura creates and organizes a wide variety of fun activities and social events for residents at Glenmeadow. "I enjoy working with almost all artistic elements, and have a special love for 'altered arts' (incorporating something intended for another purpose into a work of art)," she says.
Laura lives in Ludlow with her husband, Rick, and is part of a large, close-knit family. Laura's mother prides herself on getting the whole clan together for dinner every Tuesday evening.
She also sings in a band, called "Cubed". Laura recalls that once, after the band played at Glenmeadow, "a very dear resident came up to me with glistening eyes and told me that he had been blessed with the most wonderful wife and he missed her dearly, but that tonight--as he listened with his eyes closed and a smile on his face--he wanted to thank me because 'tonight, I danced with my wife again.'"
