Meghan Reynolds, MSW
Director of Resident Services
Meghan had planned on an environmental science major in college, but realized she liked people more than lab work. So she switched majors and went on to become a licensed social worker. After jobs working with homeless people and at hospitals and nursing homes, she came to Glenmeadow in 2007. Here, her role includes work with Glenmeadow residents and Glenmeadow at Home clients out in the community.
In working with residents, her philosophy is "be empathetic; be compassionate; try to understand others' points of view, and realize that there is a whole life behind the person I see today." This approach has led Meghan to recognize that "it is often the same things [staff] don't like about working with elders--sickness, dying, and death--that encourage us to continue ... knowing that our company and the tasks we do--physical and otherwise--really do make someone feel more comfortable, more 'at home,' and make them feel loved and respected. There are residents who have become well entrenched in my heart because of who they are or who I am when I am with them."
Meghan is part of a large and growing extended family, and likes spending time with them (and her feline "daughter" Gypsee) when not cooking, shopping, or bowling with her league.
