Tim Cotz

Executive Director

Tim has been around seniors all his life, since his grandmother lived with Tim's family throughout his childhood. "She would take me with her when she volunteered at a local nursing home, and I always enjoyed being there," he recalls. Tim worked as an orderly throughout college and graduate school, then moved into managerial positions at The Lutheran Home for the Aged in D.C., The Geriatric Authority of Holyoke, Berkshire Health Systems, and several Pioneer Valley nursing homes.

In 1993, he started at Chestnut Knoll and spent much of his first three years directing the planning, marketing, and construction of Glenmeadow. Today, he oversees the entire operation. "I truly feel called to service in this field, and find this a wonderful venue where I can be of service to others," Tim says. "I try every day to treat each person--resident, staff, or visitor--as a friend."

In his leisure time, Tim and his partner enjoy traveling, playing with their dog, eating out, and volunteering at local nonprofits and at his church.

Tim says that "the terms 'work' and 'job' simply do not apply" to Glenmeadow. "I marvel every day at the extraordinary energy and effort that it takes some residents to get up, get dressed, and go about their day with such a zest for life, despite numerous challenges and losses. I marvel at staff who give so selflessly and with such grace and compassion so another's life is a little brighter that day. I marvel at the depth of feeling and love I have for those who live and work here."
